Teachable Time and Peaceful Protest

February 16, 2020

This is such a teachable time in history.

It is a time of backlash, anti-immigration, racism, misogyny, prejudice, discrimination, denial, suppression and oppression.

These forces enable hate and drive anxiety.

There is an economic vision of prosperity that while indicators are high, the cost comes at a price of cheap labour and people unable to pay their bills. Exhaustion and decreased mental health are outcomes. Family life is affected.

What of today’s values?

What of those who struggle?

Politics affects the person. When political structures favors wealth, greed motivates. A few benefit at the expense of the many.

This is that time.

As we gather strength and oppose those forces, we seek to awaken our values of compassion and inclusion.

We fear not the immigrant. We seek not to control women. We welcome those whose differences matter not to their humanity.

We seek to educate our young appreciating that knowledge is liberating and not something to be doled out to some as pittance while those of means are enabled to achieve.

Such a teachable time in history.

Peaceful protest.

Remembering our worth amidst the struggle of survival and therein finding our strength to stand with those who seek better for ourselves and our children.

We turn the fight from each other to those who have created our turmoil. We hold them accountable and take back our power.

We learn that those who say they are for the people do so to put us to sleep.

We understand that people themselves must remain vigilant on their own behalf and assure the outcomes they seek.

A very teachable time in history.

Peaceful protest: The antidote to enable better outcomes for many. To educate our young. To place compassion and inclusion back into the equation of prosperity and wellbeing.

Democracy, human values, wellbeing; sometimes a very inconvenient struggle to maintain.

It is well worth the outcome; our children’s current wellbeing and future.

Stand together. Do not be distracted. Take back our power. Peaceful protest.

A teachable time in history.
