Behavioral Challenges and the Complex Child

March 6, 2016

Some children have multiple challenges be they physical, medical, developmental, academic, psychological, social, etc. When troubling behavior surfaces amidst the complexity of other issues, parents and other service providers may be in a quandary as to what to do or may have conflicting approaches to address the behavior. When the complexities of contributing factors are not understood or treatment is poorly coordinated, behavior can worsen.

To address behavior issues amidst complex other issues, those other issues must be accounted for in the treatment plan.

To this end, a bio-psycho-social approach to assessment and treatment is necessary. This approach accounts for the complexity of issues in the treatment plan.

If you have a child with challenging behavior who also has a number of other issues, it would be my pleasure to be of service.
