Stuck? Consider a Case Consultation

January 22, 2016

I provided another consultation for a child protection agency today regarding a high conflict family.

The consultation involves meeting with all the workers and supervisors involved with the family as well as a manager.

The main worker provides a case history and other workers fill in as per their roles.

It is amazing how things come together in terms of developing a holistic understanding of the family and issues when all the pertinent people come together. Then I am able to offer whatever wisdom/guidance I can as the outsider, looking in. Today I offered several new perspectives as well as several strategies to move things along to resolve the inter-family conflicts.

Lastly, I ask if the consultation was of value – did the workers get something out of the process to help them move the case forward.

All smiles.

Considering consultation services? Here are links to some of my own:

Consultation is appropriate in the context of child protection matters, children’s mental health, adult mental health, clinical treatment, family dispute resolution, custody/access disputes and more. BTW – Parents can suggest to an agency that they get a consultation!
