Depression/Anxiety: Two Brief Explanations about Medication

January 16, 2016

In my practice, I see people who are coping with depression and/or anxiety. In addition to counseling, many are wondering about the role of medication. While the decision to take medication remains with the client, it is important for the client to understand how it works and why it is important to take as prescribed.

Most people expect the medication to work as quickly as a pill for a headache, but this is just not the case. In other situations, people are concerned that the medication will make them silly or goofy or otherwise alter their personality. Again, this is also not the case.

To understand how the medication is helpful and why it must be taken as prescribed I have made two videos. Admittedly, the quality of the production is so-so, but the content should be of tremendous value. Feel free to let me know that you think. I have found these explanations to be helpful to the people I serve.
